FAMILY LAW TEAM
Sharyn practices in the areas of Family Law and Estate Litigation and she is also a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner.
These areas of law require a compassionate approach and Sharyn is always willing to devote her time and energy to assist clients to navigate the wide-ranging legal issues which arise in these circumstances.
Sharyn provides comprehensive and practical advice on all aspects of family law for both married and defacto couples. She is experienced in the drafting of binding financial agreements, property settlements, binding child support agreements and parenting plans/orders.
As a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner, Sharyn also conducts family mediations which aim to assist parents to reach agreement about post-separation parenting arrangements for their children.
Prior to being admitted as a solicitor, Sharyn had a successful career in journalism, where she honed her skills in written and oral communication. She is a strong negotiator and proactively aims for an early resolution of all family law and estate litigation matters.
Pam has practised exclusively in the area of family law since being admitted as a solicitor.
She completed a Bachelor of Laws at the Queensland University of Technology in 2010, receiving Honours. Since that time, Pam has been based in Toowoomba where she is raising a young family.
Pam is experienced in all aspects of family law, including parenting, property, divorce, domestic violence, child protection and Legal Aid work.
Pam is admitted as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland and is registered on the High Court of Australia Register of Practitioners. Pam is a founding member of the Toowoomba Referral Network.
Not every problem can or should be approached the same way and more often than not, finding creative and workable solutions to legal issues requires some thinking outside of the box.
That's where I come in!
By adopting a holistic and pragmatic approach to dealing with legal problems, I free up more space to be able to generate different ideas and solutions that are suitable to each client's individual circumstances.
I believe that life is far too short to live in conflict and my goal each and every day is to get clients off the legal merry-go-round as quickly as possible and with as little damage as possible.
Law is something I came to later in life, after I realised that I didn't have the stomach for a medical career. I knew that I was passionate about helping people and solving problems, so I am not surprised that I found myself eventually walking the halls of the Law Faculty.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and went on to complete a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice. I am admitted as a solicitor of the Supreme Court in Queensland and am registered on the High Court of Australia Register of Practitioners.
After an extensive history working with my brother, multi-award winning lawyer, Dan Toombs on a number of large legal interventions in Australia and the United States, I planted my feet back in both private practice and the non for profit sector and haven't really looked back.
I am currently undertaking my Masters (by research) and am focused heavily on alternate dispute resolution. I am a routine marker (in this area) at the Faculty of Law and have been a research assistant and guest speaker on the topic of collaborative law. I also have undertaken initial training in this area.
I am on the steering committee for the Family Law Pathways Network and a member of the Queensland Law Society, the Family Law Practitioners Association and the Queensland Association of Collaborative Practitioners.
If you feel I can be of assistance, please reach out to me.
